Staff Profile

Prof Chinwe Uzochukwu is the pioneer elected Head of Department of Mass Communication in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. She is a Professor of Development Communication and two time Head of Department of Mass Communication. She also served as Head of Department of the unbundled Department of Development Communication Studies. She holds a PhD, MSc, MA, PGDE and BA degrees in Mass Communication and related disciplines. She has written several articles both in national and international journals. She has some technical papers to her credit from consultancy services rendered in Anambra state and some Non-governmental Organizations. She has attended many academic conferences in Nigeria and beyond. She was editor in Chief of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Journal of Media and Communication Studies. She is a co-editor of the book "Digital Media and Information Literacy: Foundations, Applications and Practices". She has successfully supervised several Masters and Doctoral students in the department and has served as an external examiner for both undergraduate and Post graduate students. She has also served as external assessor for professorial and readership positions to several universities in Nigeria. She was a co-researcher in the 2019 Tetfund NRF research grant. She is a member of some Communication associations including the Development Communication Research Association of Nigeria (DECRAN) among others.
