If you're same address as 1 you will write ¹ in your own if not same address write 3 and put down the address Corresponding author email- Abstract Stomach ulcer also known as peptic ulcer is a sore that develops on the lining of the oesophagus, Stomach or Small intestine. It's usually caused by _Helicobacter_ _pylori_. This study was carried out to assess the level or impact of peptic ulcer disease among the inhabitants of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Community, Uli.One hundred and twenty (120)inhabitants of COOU, Uli were selected for the study through systematic random sampling. Faecal and blood samples of each consented individuals were collected. Data was analysed on SPSS version 20.0. Results obtained show that the overall Prevalence of Peptic ulcer in the study Area was 51(42.5%). Students had higher Prevalence with 4(56.3%) while non-academic staff had least infection rate of 2(16.7%). The age group 21-25years recorded highest Prevalence with 19(42.2%) and age group 26-30years had least with 8(30 . 8%) respectively. Male had more infection rate of 27 (41.5%) than females with 24(43.6%). There was no significance difference between sex. Excessive stress, improper orientation and consumption of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs were found to be risk factors associated with peptic ulcer in the community. In conclusion, there is need for Enlightenment campaign programme on intake of anti-inflammatory drugs. Government construction of recreational centers for relaxation is highly advocated.
