Dr. Agu Matthew Onyema, is a lecturer with the Pure and Industrial Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Physical Sciences.
Dr. Agu Matthew Onyema earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in Industrial Chemistry from Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, Adamawa State. He formally worked with Taraba State Post Primary Teaching Service Board and Federal Polytechnic Bali, Taraba State but presently a lecturer with Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State. He was the Head of Chemistry Unit of the Science Laboratory Technology Department of Federal Polytechnic Bali from 2014 to 2020. His research interest generally includes; Extraction, Characterisation, Structural elucidation, and efficacy of medicinal plants. This interest formed the basis of his Ph. D research on the Investigation of Ginger lily and Snail Slime for potential use as an anti-diabetic drug delivery system. He was awarded the 2018, World Academic Champion in Chemical Sciences through his research article on Evaluation of Balanites aegyptiaca Linna Delile Stem Bark and Synthetic Surfactant for Surface Activity. He belongs to many Professional bodies like Chemical Society of Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, Association of Business Specialists & Entrepreneurs of Nigeria, etc. He is also a Fellow of, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (FICCON) and Fellow, International Agency for Standards and Ratings, FIASR (World Academic Championship) He has authored many research articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is a peer reviewer of articles in Journals like Asian Food Science Journal, Asian Food Science Journal, Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International etc. Happily married with children.
