Mr. Mark Matthew Edet hails from Mbiabong Ukan, Ikono local government area in Akwaibom state, Nigeria. He is a Baccalaureate degree (second class upper division) holder in Biochemistry, obtained from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike in 2017. over the years, post-university graduation, Mr. Mark has worked under the supervision of Prof. Joseph Ifeanyi Brian-D, former Director of Ekwueme Center for Multi-disciplinary Research (ECMR) and present Director of Center for Health and Allied Legal and Demographical Development Research and Training (CHALADDRAT) – all in Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka, as a personal administrative/research assistant partly voluntarily of which he gathered both administrative, managerial and research knowledge and skills that further gained him the opportunity to be employed in the university. He was officially appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of NAU as a technologist to serve in the department of Human Biochemistry and was also seconded to CHALADDRAT, in 2020. His interest in both basic and applied research as well as technical and statistical skills availed him the opportunity to co-author more than ten research publications in learned journals with his mentor, Prof. JIB Adinma. His publications are primarily centered on infectious diseases such as COVID-19, HIV, and malaria. He assays the biological molecules/ levels of some biological molecules in people living with infectious diseases, as well as understudied the helth impacts of some molecules like vitamin D and serum calcium on pregnant women and their effect on pregnancy-related outcomes. At the moment, he has attended more than 9 scientific conferences out of which he made 3 paper presentations at the conferences. Mr. Mark Matthew has, in addition, attended seminars and/or entrepreneurial workshops on human resources and skills acquisition, leadership, interpersonal relationship, grantsmanship training, and communication. In October 2020, he was selected and eventually participated in the EDTCP funded traineeship positions on the Design and Implementation of Cluster Randomized Trial for Evaluating Health Care Interventions: Experience of ARA Trial. He was not left out in the 2021 Advanced Online Literature Search Using Research4life Hinari and RevMan 5 software training organized by the NAU University Library unit in partnership with MLA Librarians without borders. He has been a member of the International Research Conference on 50 Years Post Nigerian Civil war, functioning under sub-committees as publication/scientific/publicity committee, logistics committee, and conference rapporteur committee. He was in his undergraduate school days elected as the public relation officer (PRO) in his state student’s union known as NAAKISS; a foundational president of the National Association of Ikono Students (NAIS). He is a registered member of PAC-Net Women’s Health and Youth Development Initiative, a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization. He is well experienced in computer windows exploration, use of Microsoft office tool packages such as Ms Word, Excel, Database, picture manager, etc., including special graphic software. He can also confidently use statistical tools such as SPSS, RevMan5.0 to perform basic and advanced statistical analysis.
