Dr. Alonta Gabriel Chidiebere is a dedicated Lecturer in the Department of Vocational Education at the Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Education, graduating in 2013 with Second Class Honors (upper division) and achieving the distinction of the best graduating student of the year. Continuing his academic journey, he obtained his Master's (M. Sc.) degree in 2019 and doctoral degree in 2023 from prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria.
As an educator, Dr. Alonta is passionate about Business Education and actively engages in teaching, research, supervising research projects, and mentoring aspiring researchers. He upholds values of hard work, thoroughness, resilience, open-heartedness, and ethical conduct. With core skills in organization, teamwork, problem-solving, innovation, and computer literacy, he aspires to utilize his research expertise to contribute significantly to organizational success and address societal challenges, particularly within his immediate environment. This earned him Vice-Chancellor's Award for Best Academic Staff in 2023 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria.
Dr. Alonta's research interests span various areas including E-learning, technology adoption, entrepreneurship, business communication, journalism, education, teaching pedagogy, and student retention. He has a keen interest in leveraging research insights to develop practical solutions and positively impact society.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Alonta gained experience as a reporter at Orient Magazine, Newspaper and Communication Ltd, where he led the education desk. He has authored numerous articles published both online and in print, covering diverse topics in Nigeria's education sector, politics, business, community issues, and gender-based concerns. His journalistic efforts were recognized with a nomination for the Anambra State Media Awards as the 'Best News and Current Affairs Reporter' in 2019. He was also named the 2nd runner-up in the Prof. Chinyere Okunna Prizze for Ethical Journalism.
Beyond academia and journalism, Dr. Alonta actively contributes to societal development and advocacy initiatives. He serves on the implementation committee for the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law of Anambra State and has held roles such as Anambra South Zonal Coordinator for the Community of Practice (COP), documenting atrocities against women and girls in the state. Committed to human rights advocacy, he campaigns against gender-based violence, gender inequality, and the marginalization of vulnerable groups, collaborating with various civil society organizations, NGOs, and faith-based groups.
