Dr. Chinedum Emmanuel Amaechi is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Cyber Security at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria . He is from Umunweokwe, Eziama Obiare, Nkwerre LGA. Imo State. He holds a PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in Information/Cyber Security from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) and an MSc in Computer Science from the same institution . He is a registered member of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) and Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), and a full-time academic researcher in Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Information/Cyber Security. His research portfolio is centred on the application of computational intelligence to real-world security and societal challenges. In the domain of cybersecurity, he has produced seminal case-study analyses of critical national infrastructure vulnerabilities. His 2026 study published in the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Applied Science provided a technical autopsy of the cascading breach of Nigeria's national payment infrastructure, tracing the exploitation of an unpatched CVE (CVE-2025-55182) in a tier-2 bank's internet-facing server to the eventual exposure of 3 terabytes of data from Remita, including KYC documents and HSM key files for 46 financial institutions . This work, which reconstructs the complete attack chain using the MITRE ATT&CK framework, advances the understanding of inter-bank trust corridor vulnerabilities and zero-trust architecture design in the Nigerian financial sector . His work also addresses the intersection of NLP and Deep Learning with cybersecurity education. He developed a novel approach to phishing mitigation in Nigeria that leverages NLP and Deep Learning for both automated detection and anti-phishing training, with a specific focus on localized tactics and cultural factors—a contribution published in the International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology (2024) . His 2024 review paper on phishing awareness in higher education institutions, published in IJRIAS, systematically classified phishing types and technical approaches, providing foundational evidence for institutional security policies . Beyond security, Dr. Amaechi applies ML and NLP techniques to societal and environmental problems. His 2024 work in the International Journal of Computer Applications Technology and Research (with Onyechi et al.) leveraged deep learning for traffic offence prediction in Nigeria . In 2024, he also collaborated with colleagues to explore machine-learning-driven green computing solutions for sustainable technological futures . In 2026, he co-authored a performance-based socio-technical evaluation of AI tools in the Nigerian education system, published in the International Journal of Technology, Health and Sustainability, which bridges technical AI implementation with pedagogical outcomes. His collaborative and multidisciplinary research has also contributed to the health sciences, as evidenced by his 2025 co-authorship on a comparative validity assessment of Android step counter applications, published in BMC Digital Health . This study, conducted with colleagues in the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, exemplifies his ability to translate computational methods into practical tools for health and wellness assessment.
