Dr. Augustine Ebele Mbachu is a lecturer in the Department of Applied Microbiology and Brewing, Faculty of Biosciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. He graduated from the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Microbiology. He later attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where he obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) and a Doctorate (Ph.D) degrees in Environmental Microbiology. He is currently the Assistant Secretary as well as a Course Adviser in the Department of Applied Microbiology and Brewing. He is a member of accreditation subcommittee on examination matters, in the Department of Applied Microbiology and Brewing. Dr. Mbachu is a reviewer and an editor of several peer reviewed scientific journals. He has written several book chapters and published several scholarly scientific articles in both national and international journals. He has also presented several scholarly scientific papers in both national and international conferences. His research interest is in the areas of Environmental Microbiology/Biotechnology, Soil Microbiology, Petroleum Microbiology, Bioremediation/Biodegradation, Aquatic and Waste Microbiology, Microbial Ecology, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, as well as Food and Industrial Microbiology. He is a member of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), as well as other notable learned organizations.
