Dr Chinyere Ukamaka ONUBOGU is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), where she is actively involved in the training and mentorship of undergraduate medical students and doctors undergoing residency training in pediatrics. Her academic interests reflect her clinical and public health expertise, with a focus on childhood infectious diseases (particularly TB and HIV), neonatology, immunization, childhood nutrition, and perinatal health.
Beyond teaching and research, she serves as Chair of the Health Research Ethics Committee at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), ensuring the ethical conduct of research and the protection of human subjects. She also coordinates the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV Program at NAUTH, leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality care, mentorship, and continuous service improvement.
At the national level, Dr Onubogu currently Chairs the National Maternal and Child Health Committee of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) for the 2023–2025 biennium and contributes to several technical and professional committees focused on child health, immunization, and social innovation in health. Her research and advocacy efforts aim to improve maternal and child health outcomes, particularly in underserved and resource-limited communities.
She is committed to advancing evidence-based healthcare policies and promoting innovative, community-driven approaches toward achieving universal health coverage and sustainable health outcomes.
