Dr. Ugochukwu T. Ugwu is an Anthropologist in the Department of Sociology/Anthropology. His scholarly interest, is broadly on social and cultural anthropology with a focus on how local communities in post-contact Africa have modified and adjusted to externally-driven social change. He has been researching on their autochthonous religions, mortuary rites, and gender and economic relations, in the context of acculturation. His current projects are: Women as Property: Kinship, Marriage and Inheritance in South-east Nigeria, and cannabis use among Nigerians.
