Dr. Maria Chinecherem Uzonwanne is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. She obtained her B.sc, M.sc, and Ph.D. in Development Economics at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Pontifical Gregorian University Rome, Italy. She also obtained another M.sc in Management of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, at Pontifical University Angelicum, Rome, Italy. She obtained a Diploma in Health Science from the Department of Social Sciences at Pontifical Urban University Rome, Italy. In 2020, she also obtained a certificate in Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies through an online learning initiative of Harvard University USA. Dr. Uzonwanne has served in many institutions such as; the Department of Economics Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka as both academic staff and coordinator of postgraduate seminars, part-time lecturer at Tansian University, Umunya (2016), Managing Director of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters Madonna Renewal Centre Nkpor-Agu, from 2012- 2022, Fund Raiser of an International Non- Governmental Organization: Aid to the Church in Need, Rome, Italy, 2009-2010, Classroom teacher at Mater Christ Catholic Girls Secondary School, Igede-Ekiti, Ekiti State, 1998-2003 and Account Officer at Mater Christ Catholic Girls Secondary School, Igede-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Dr. Maria Chinecherem Uzonwanne's teaching and research interests include Microeconomics, Development Economics, Problems and Policies of Development, Economics of Development and Planning, Monetary Economics, and Qualitative Research. She has attended many local and international conferences and published in local and international journals. She is the chief editor of the International Journal of Social Sciences and Education (2018 special edition), Editor of the Journal of Economics NAU, and the Journal of Energy Economics NAU from 2022 to date. She is the author of many books such as (1) Empowerment Strategy for Catholic School Management (2) Rediscovering the Essence of NGOs, both published in 2019, and (3) a co-author of the book; A Guide for Research Process and Referencing written in 2020 and (4) keys to business success published in 2021 and (5)Problems and POlicis of Development in 2023. Dr.Uzonwanne has reviewed lots of work for different journals both local and international such as the Journal of Economics, management and Trade (2021), the Journal of Nigerian Economic Studies (2021), the Asian Research Journal of Mathematics (2021), Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Account (2022) and so many others. Apart from her teaching career, Dr. Maria Chinecherem Uzonwanne is a member of professional bodies such as the Nigerian Economic Society, Association for the Advancement of African Women Economist (AAAWE), Nigerian Association for Energy and Environmental Economics (NAEEE), International Association for Female Academic Doctors (IAFAD) and Fellow, Center for Migration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. She is also a consultant with the African Development Institute.
