Emmanuel Chukwudalu Ohaekenyem attended Federal Government College Enugu in Enugu State, where he graduated as House Captain in 2006. In 2011, he received a First Class Honours degree in Pure and Industrial Chemistry from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. His work focuses on the design, synthesis and use of novel drug-active macrocycle and Schiff-based compounds. He joined scientific organizations such as the American Chemical Society (ACS), International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), International Younger Chemist Network (IYCN)/Social Media Team, and International Research and Development Institute to learn about new research trends and to contribute to the scientific community. He is on the editorial board of the monthly magazine of the Federation of African Societies of Chemistry (FASC). He has presented his findings to scientific audiences at the ACS Nigeria branch, the IRDI, and the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN). In recognition of his contributions to the scientific community and teaching enthusiasm, he received a first-of-its-kind Periodic Table of Younger Chemists Award in July 2019 at the IUPAC100 conference in Paris, France. He has demonstrated a high degree of dedication and attention in his study and has been taught and coached by various academics in his profession. Emmanuel also earned the best poster prize at the 2019 IUPAC for Africa Postgraduate Summer School on Green Chemistry in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Emmanuel has worked in a variety of positions. In 2012, he was president of the Millennium Development Goals' Family and Community Reorientation (FACOR) component. Emmanuel is the ad hoc Secretary of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University International Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS). He is also a part of the IYCN Social Media team. Emmanuel is a dedicated academic committed to tackling the world's health concerns.
