Obi Bibiana Irukaku (Mary Noeleen), PhD was born in Uli to Mr. & Mrs Evaristus and Cecilia Obi of the blessed memory. She was the third child of her parents. She was four years old when she lost her father in a fatal motor accident. At the age of 10 she was sent to live with her grandmother and then continue her primary school, first Holy Communion and Confirmation Instructions which culminated successfully.
In St. Paul’s primary school Umuezeawala,
Ihiala/St. Anthony’s primary school Amamputu Uli, she secured her first school
leaving certificate. She also attended
the following educational institutions and obtained the respective
qualifications: Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Ph.D in Business Education
specializing in Secretarial Technology in 2011, M.Sc. in Business Education
2007, B.Sc. in Business Education, 2003, ICSA Corporate Governance 2007, NCE in
Business Education (Accounting/Secretarial Studies), 1987 at Federal College of
Education (Technical) Gombe, Grade II Teachers’ Certificate at Women Teachers’
College, Nguru in 1983 and WAEC/GCE 1981/1983 at Urhonigbe Grammar School,
Urhonigbe and Maiduguri.
She was received as a
postulant on the 23rd of August, 1985 at Immaculate Heart Postulate,
Oguta Road, Onitsha. She was returned to
the Postulate on 11th November, 1988, to prepare for entry into the
Novitiate. She was received a novice in
1988, made her first religious commitment on 29th November,
1990. Her first community was Immaculate
Heart Generalate, Odoakpu, Onitsha. She
was sent to Awka diocese to work as a secretary to the late Most Rev. Dr. Simon
Akwali Okafor, the then Auxiliary Bishop and later substantive Diocesan Bishop
on 10th February, 1994. This
mission lasted till 2012. While on this
mission she enrolled for first degree and came out in second class upper
division. She combined her apostolate
with studies.
She is presently a
lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka where she want to utilize her
experience and to transfer her knowledge to the youths. She equally wants to be informative and
helpful to the students and find a challenging position to meet her
competencies, capabilities, skills, and education. To strive for holiness of
life, authentic witnessing, humility, discipline, self-reliance and excellence
through service delivery in order to meet the demands of the global challenges is
her ultimate goal.
