Dr Amaka Gertrude Metu is an Associate Professor and a lecturer in the Department of Economics, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Nigeria. She is Facilitator for the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). She earned a master degree in Development Economics in 2009 from University of PortHarcourt and a PhD degree in Development Economics in 2017 from NAU Awka, Nigeria. Her research interest includes development studies particularly inclusive growth, institutions, entrepreneurship and environmental and environment. She was the Associate and Managing Editor of The Nigerian Journal of Energy and Environmental Economics (NJEEE) and the Journal of Economic Studies (JES), both published by the Department of Economics, NAU, Awka from 2017 to 2019. She was an Associate Editor of Socialscientia Journal of the Social Sciences and Humanities (2020 Special Edition). Amaka has published articles in both national and international journals, and numerous book chapters to her credit. She is a member of the Nigerian Economic Society, Association for the Advancement of African Women Economists (AAAWE), African Finance and Economic Association group. She is a research associate of the Center for Migration Studies and Centre for Sustainable Development, Nnamdi Azikiwe University. She is also a research fellow of the Pan-African Scientific Research Council and Centre for Economic Policy and Development Research (CEPDeR), Covenant University Otta. Dr Amaka Metu is currently the Head, Economics Department, NAU Awka; PG Sub Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, NAU Awka Nigeria.
