**Natural Products Metabolomics**
We investigate different specimen of natural origin including soil fungi, endophytes, micro brown algae and plants for secondary metabolites which are tested for bioactivity against various disease targets.
We have specific focus on anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities properties of the specimens and their metabolites. It has been established that inflammation is linked to cancer and many disease other diseases. Anti-inflammatory metabolites are potentially useful for cancer management.
Our approach is traditional bio-assay guided fractionation using various chromatographic methods including HPLC to fractionate the extracts and isolate the compounds. Spectroscopic methods including NMR and MS are used for structure elucidation and identification of the compounds. Compounds and fractions are tested for anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties using various in vivo and in vitro models. We recently concluded tests on 4 plant specimens against COVID-19 wild virus with very interesting outcome.
We collaborate with laboratories in Ghana, Germany and the UK
**Pharmaceutical Analysis**
We carry out the analysis of pharmaceutical products for regulatory compliance using state-of-the-art analytical instruments.This is carried out for research purposes and sometimes on the requests of Pharmaceutical companies
