With over 15 years of experience in the field, Dr. Kingsley C. Agu is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Applied Microbiology and Brewing. His expertise spans a wide range of microbiological disciplines, including Environmental Microbiology, Public Health Microbiology, Industrial/Food Microbiology, Medical Microbiology and Brewing.
Areas of Specialization:
i. Environmental Microbiology: Bioremediation, bioplastics, and upcycling food waste
ii. Public Health Microbiology: Infectious disease surveillance and disease severity markers
iii. Food/Industrial Microbiology: Enzymes, biocatalysts, and bioprospecting, post-harvest loss of foods, probiotics
iv. Medical Microbiology: Antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing
v. Brewing Science Expertise: His deep understanding of brewing science extends to the innovative use of local herbs to enhance beverage shelf-life. This unique specialization further solidifies his reputation as a well-rounded academic.
