Prof. Ugochukwu Okonkwo is currently the Dean, Faculty of Engineering. Equally, he is the University Mace Bearer and the Chairman of the Parents Teachers Council of Unizik High School. He was the immediate past Director, Chisco Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He was a former Postgraduate Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, He was a former Head of Department, Mechanical Engineering of the University, etc.
His research interest include mechanical engineering design, materials technology and ionization radiation control. As regards creative
output, Prof. Okonkwo is widely published. He has authored/co-authored 7 books.
He is a co-editor to a research book. To his credit he has over 90 articles in
learned journals and chapters in mainline books. In addition to over 40 learned conference
presentations, Prof Okonkwo has developed 3
engineering software. He has equally attracted local and international research grants. He has successfully supervised over 50 postgraduate works. He is External Examiner to many Universities including University of Johannesburg, South Africa, University of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurum, Delta State, etc. Prof. Okonkwo has won many national and international grants including the TETFUnd NRF grant, NITTF grant, HEPSSA Grant, TETFund IBR grant, etc.
He belongs to a number
of Professional bodies. He is COREN registered, Fellow, Nigeria Society of Engineers (FNSE), Fellow, Institute of Policy
Management and Development (FIPMD), Member International Association of
Engineering (IAENG),
Member World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, Member Society of
Modelling and Simulation International (SMSI) etc..
