Prof Ignatius Uche Nwankwo obtained his B.Sc degree in Sociology and Anthropology in 1992 from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He later proceeded to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria, for his M.Sc and PhD degrees. He is a Professor of Medical Sociology with research interests that delve into social determinants of healthcare access and utilization, health care finance, health programmes and policies assessment, and environmental Sociology issues, among others. He is a member of International Sociological Association (ISA), and a Fellow of Nigerian Anthropological and Sociological Practitioners Association (NASA),where he coordinates the Medical Sociology Subgroup. He has also served as the Head, Department of Sociology/Anthropology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, from 2012 - 2014, and as the sub -Dean for Postgraduate Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences from 2017 - 2019. Prof Ignatius Uche Nwankwo has scholarly works to his credit in international and local journals, and currently serves as the Editor in Chief of three journals; Nigerian Journal of Medical Sociology, International Journal of Health and Social Inquiry, and the Nigerian Journal of Social Problems and Social Policy Review. His marriage is blessed with children to the glory of God.
