Ike Odimegwu is a Professor of Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. He obtained his degrees from Pontifical Urban University, Rome; and University of Nigeria, Nsukka specializing in African Metaphysical Anthropology; Dialogics and Social and Political Philosophy. His research interests include Human Personhood, Human Identity, African Social Existence; Dialogics, and Migration. In addition to over 50 published journal articles and book chapters, his published books include Integrative Personhood; Perspectives on African Communalism, Philosophic Foundations of Politics, Philosophy and Africa, Philosophy and Nigerian Democracy, Bread of Life, On Discipline & Indiscipline, My Memento, Learning Existence & Freedom, A Genius in the Hood, The Loneliness of Being and Nigerian Migration Dynamics and Governance. He is also a versatile literary artist, creative poet and musical composer with lots of poems, operettas, liturgical hymns and anthems and short stories to his credit. He has been Editor of a number of academic journals including UJAH, Nnamdi Azikiwe Journal of Philosophy and Ogirisi: a new journal of African Studies. He is editorial Adviser and reviewer to numerous academic journals and publishing houses in Africa, USA and Canada. He has delivered academic papers, lead papers and keynote speeches in over one hundred conferences across the world. He has been Visiting Professor to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; University of Cape Coast, Ghana; and Center for Research in Values and Philosophy, Catholic University of America, Washington DC. Ike Odimegwu is an academic leader as a scholar, researcher, mentor and academic administrator. He has been active in a number of academic professional associations. He is a member of the Nigerian Philosophy Association and has served as Secretary, Society for the Development of African Philosophy, Science and Technology (SODAPSAT); Two-Term Vice President (Africa) of African Studies Research Forum (ASRF), and currently, President of African Philosophy Society (APS). At different times, he has served as Academic Adviser; Postgraduate Studies Coordinator; and Head, Department of Philosophy; Sub-Dean and Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, and Chairman of Senate Committees at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. Ike Odimegwu is a multidimensional personality. Beyond being an avid scholar, he is a social critic, human rights crusader and a unionist. He spearheaded the revival of ASUU at Nnamdi Azikiwe University and has served as Chairman, ASUU-NAU; Zonal Coordinator, ASUU Owerri Zone; Convener of many ASUU NEC Committees and currently Resource Person to ASUU National Executive Council. In 2018, he forayed into the field of migration. And today, Ike Odimegwu is a leading voice in the projection of the academia in Nigerian migration management and governance. He pioneered the establishment of the first centre for migration studies in the Nigerian university system, the Centre for Migration Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (CMS-NAU). As the pioneer Director of that Centre, he has championed the inclusion of the academia among the implementing agencies for Nigerian migration policies. He is also spearheading the partnership of CMS-NAU with the International Organization for Migration (IOM); the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ); the Embassy of Switzerland; the Swiss Federal Commission for Migration, Pan-African Collaboration for Excellence, University of Alberta. He is a Member of the National Technical Working Group on Migration Governance in Nigeria; and Member of the Expert Team on the 2019 review of the 2015 National Migration Policy. The philosophy of Ike Odimegwu is built on dialogics. His life is built on collaboration. He invests on networking and building bridges across peoples, organizations and institutions. Currently, he heads the Nigerian Team of the Global Research Network on the Resilience of African Immigrant Families; Coordinator, of the Nigerian Team, Pan African Collaboration for Excellence (PACE); He collaborated with the United States Consulate General, Lagos to establish an American Space at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. Presently, Professor Ike Odimegwu is a triple Director at Nnamdi Azikiwe University: Director, Centre for Migration Studies, Director, Awka Window on America, and Director of Academic Planning.
